We developed this web interface to make the translateMiRNAName function, contained in the miRNAmeConverter Bioconductor R package, accessible to everyone. In addition, sequences are available for translated miRNAs.
The aim of this miRNA name translator is to address the issue of miRNAs having inconsistent names among the miRBase versions. The translation becomes especially useful when dealing with miRNA tools other than miRBase. To retrieve targets from miRTarBase, for example, the miRNA name from version 20 is required, whereas the website miRecords only accepts version 17.
In addition one can not only paste mature miRNA names but also whole paragraphs containing miRNA names, such as introductions from papers.
