Leonie Young is associate professor in the Department of Surgery at RCSI and her main area of interest is translational work on the co-regulatory proteins in the diagnosis, assessment and treatment of Breast cancer. Dr Young’s active projects in the laboratory at the present time are looking at Cell Cycle Regulation of Breast Cancer Cells and Steroid Receptor transcriptional regulation. Since 2001, Dr Young has led the breast cancer research group and in that time has published a number of papers in internationally peer reviewed scientific journals in addition to securing grant funding, most notably in the form of a Science Foundation Ireland Principal Investigator Programme award in 2008.
